Ann van der Meer is a professional artist who was born in the Netherlands and studied at the Willem de Kooning Art Academy in Rotterdam. In her studio in the garden, Atelier du Jardin, she creates paintings and drawings in acrylic or oil paint and in mixed media. She has provided adults and children alike with education, training and workshops to obtain skills in painting and drawing for almost two decades now.
In her contemporary artworks, the image seems to be levitating and to be full of soft, delicate feelings, which are stimulated by colours. The subdued warm shades-such as red, orange and green-act as a catalyst for emotions. The interaction between the different materials and the delicate balance of reality and dreamworld stress the purity of emotions.
In this way the landscape scenes are created in a colourful transparent equilibrium of figurative and abstract art. Secret impulses from the unconscious stimulate her vibrating perception of reality, generating the fascinating scenes and magical atmospheres, so characteristic of her paintings.
